Cupcakes for Kids

Buy Valentine's Day cupcakes to help raise money for FBC's commitment for an adoption ministry. Every dollar that is donated will be given to the Global Priority Fund for the purpose of supporting FBC families pursuing adoption. Choose the cupcakes of your choice (Vanilla, Chocolate, or Red Velvet) topped with homemade buttercream icing and a festive, Valentine's Day flair. Pick them up on Sunday, February 12 in the Morgan Hall kitchen. 6 cupcakes for minimum donation of $10, and 12 cupcakes for a minimum donation of $20. Pay at pick-up. NC Baptist Men

NC Baptist Men are in need of a married couple to volunteer with the mobile medical/dental ministry. This couple needs to be available to drive the mobile dental units and serve as hosts at dental clinics throughout North Carolina. A CDL license with air brake endorsement is required to drive the Bluebird Bus and International Truck. Volunteers are needed from one day clinics up to ten days at a time. On the job training is provided. A medical or dental background is not required. Expenses are reimbursed. Contact jhoneycutt@ncbaptist.org or 459-5603 for more information.

Adoption Ministry Lunch

FBC is launching a new ministry to support families considering adoption and foster care! We're having a lunch so you can learn about how you can be involved in our efforts to care for orphans. This lunch is for families who are interested in adopting or fostering, those who would like to help and encourage them, and those who would like to learn more about adoption and foster care. The Adoption Ministry Lunch will be after church on Sunday, February 5. To attend, please RSVP to Tom Knight (tom.knight@fbcdurham.org) in the church office by Wednesday, February 1.

Caring Center Needs Your Help

The Caring Center at FBC needs your help! We are in need of new or used 1) hangers--any type, especially small children's hangers, 2) clear plastic storage bins with or without lids--any size, from small to extra huge, and 3) plastic stackable storage crates. In addition, we are reaching desperation stage for VOLUNTEERS for our Saturday 10:00am - 12:00 noon shift. One Saturday a month is all we need! Please contact Jayme Ung or Kelly Pendergraft on MemberHub. (Donations can be left outside the Caring Center door in the basement.)

Baby Bottle Blessings

A "Baby Bottle Blessings" campaign to benefit Pregnancy Support Services will be held Sunday, January 22 through Sunday, February 19. PSS is a Christian ministry assisting women facing the challenges of unplanned pregnancy by ministering to their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. You can help support this ministry by taking home a baby bottle, filling it with your loose change, and returning it by February 19. Bottles will be available near the welcome desk on the ground floor of the north tower throughout the campaign and need to be returned on February 19 to a collection box there also. Sunday Morning Flowers

The church is in need of help with arranging flowers and setting them out in key locations (including in front of the pulpit) on Sunday mornings. If you have an interest in this beautifying and God-glorifying ministry of hospitality, please contact David Pearson (845-1606) or Chris Bowen (967-8832), our deacons of the Corporate Worship Ministry Team. Attention All Medical Professionals at FBC Durham

FBC would like to be in contact with our healthcare workers in order to communicate more effectively our ministry opportunities related to healthcare. It would also be helpful to know your medical skills so we can contact you as needed. Therefore, we have created a separate "hub" on MemberHub entitled "FBCD Healthcare Workers" and would encourage everyone with medical skills to join that hub. Worship Musicians Needed!

If you play a musical instrument and would like to get involved in the Corporate Worship Ministry Team, please contact Eric Campbell at 688-7308, ext. 30 or eric.campbell@fbcdurham.org. We especially need violinists, drummers, guitarists (electric and acoustic), bass players, and auxiliary percussionists for Sunday mornings, and we are assembling a full orchestra for our Christmas concert on December 11, utilizing full orchestra. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! (Psalm 150:6)

Furniture Donations Needed for the International Connections Ministry Team

Do you have used furniture that you would like to donate to the International Connections Ministry of FBC Durham? David Batchelor will be accepting furniture donations throughout the coming months to be used for incoming international students. If you are interested in donating used furniture, please contact David at davidbatchelorjr@gmail.com or call him at 768-3636 to arrange a time for him to pick up your donated furniture. When you call or email David, please leave your name, address, and phone number so that he can return your call and coordinate a pick-up time. This furniture will be used to deepen our relationship with our international connections as well as provide an opportunity to proclaim the gospel.

We are looking for individuals who would be willing to take a few hours to process ONE shelf (or more!) during the next 8 weeks (training provided!). Sip 'N See Baby Shower Honoring Cori & Beau Dary

Rose Garden to Receive an Update

During the coming months, you will notice some landscaping being done to the rose beds and roses in our Rose Garden. Due to the age of the rose bushes and the condition of the soil, it is time to replace the soil, update the irrigation system, and plant new rose bushes in the Rose Garden. The elders and many members of FBC are eager to see the beauty of this garden enhance the lives of those attending FBC and others that pass by the church on a daily basis. This project should be completed by April 2012 in order to provide opportunity for the garden to be in full bloom by late Spring.

Caring Center Needs

The Caring Center at FBC Durham is in need of some items to help complete the reorganization of our church's thrift store. Please be in prayer of how your family may be able to contribute.

The items we need are:

1) Hangers--any type, especially small children's hangers

2) Clear plastic storage bins with or without lids--any size, from small to extra huge

3) Plastic stackable storage crates (like a milk crate)

These items can be new or used. They can be dropped off outside the door of the Caring Center in the basement or put in the drop-off chute located on the backside of the church. You can also flag Kelly Pendergraft or Jayme Ung down at church and we can take them from you.

Also, we are in DESPERATE need of some Saturday volunteers. The Caring Center is open for business every Friday and Saturday from 10am - 12 noon, but the Saturday shift is extremely short on volunteers. This is a perfect opportunity for you and your family to find out more about the Caring Center ministry and how FBC is serving our church members and the surrounding community.

Biblical Counselor Training

The Counseling Ministry has begun Biblical Counseling training. Meet in the conference room after the worship service. Instruction starts at 1:00pm and will last approximately one hour. Our goal is to equip members to discern thinking, behavior, and speech that God wants to change and to use God's Word to change thinking, behavior and speech for the benefit of those hurting and in need. This training will provide the required knowledge for those interested in serving in the counseling ministry as well as those who desire personal growth in life and godliness. It is not too late to join us. Training is audio/visual and available for those who were not able to attend the first class. If you have further questions, please contact Steve Correll at 489-5871.
