The men’s ministry seeks to delight in, display, and declare the glory of God by implementing 3 goals. First, we want to gather men together in big groups a few times a year. We do this at our men’s retreat and early morning prayer breakfasts. Our hope is that friendships, among those new to the church as well as those who have been part of First for a long time, would form and be strengthened as we get to know one another better.
Secondly, we want to encourage small groups and one-on-one discipleship among the men at FBCD. At times throughout the year we will launch more formal times of discipleship, but we hope that mutual accountability and discipleship will flourish in natural relationships.
Thirdly, we want to pursue service projects throughout the year. We know one of the main ways that men get to know one another is by serving side by side. We also want to meet the needs of people in the church by offering our time and energy in physical labor.
Men’s Bible and Book Studies
Verse-by-verse interactive studies through books of the Bible led by Andy Davis on Thursdays at noon. The goal of this Bible study is to deepen our understanding of the Word of God and to build up Christian maturity in the men of the church. Visitors are welcome, and you’re encouraged to invite your friends.
Beginning August 18, Brent Aucoin and Phillip Bradrick will be going through the book Family Shepherds, which seeks to help equip Christian men to shepherd their family. The author examines what the Bible teaches about marriage and parenting, and the role that husbands and fathers are to play in those areas of life.
Brent and Phillip plan to meet at Bojangles on Highway 98, Wednesday mornings from 6:30-7:30am, starting August 18.
Their goal is to examine one chapter each week (the book contains 15 chapters; about 10 pages per chapter).
