Here are the basic steps to joining the body at FBC Durham. If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact our elders or staff.
Step 1: Indicate Interest to Pursue Membership – A candidate for membership may express interest in joining FBC Durham by calling the church office to sign up for the Prospective New Member weekend.
Step 2: Attend a Prospective New Member Weekend – Our NEXT Prospective New Member weekend will be offered on Friday, October 6, 7:00-9:00pm, and Saturday, October 7, 9:00am-11:00am (one must attend both sessions). In the two sessions many topics are covered to convey FBC Durham’s history, core beliefs, responsibilities for members, and vision.
Step 3: Participate in a Prospective Membership Interview – This is an opportunity for one of the elders or staff to get to know you better, hear about your conversion, baptism, and walk with Christ, as well as answer any questions you may have about FBC Durham.
Step 4: Sign the Church Covenant – New Member candidates will be asked to introduce themselves to the church body at the next New Member Sunday, as well as sign our church covenant.
Step 5: Church Approval – The church will officially vote to approve the new members at the next Members’ Meeting.
Verse-by-verse interactive studies through books of the Bible led by Andy Davis on Thursdays at noon. The goal of this Bible study is to deepen our understanding of the Word of God and to build up Christian maturity in the men of the church. Visitors are welcome, and you’re encouraged to invite your friends!
In lieu of Home Fellowships, there will be a Missions Fair held in the Sanctuary and Welcome Center on Sunday, January 28, at 6:00pm. The first portion of the evening will consist of a “mission experience” highlighting display booths from our 2017 mission trips, various foods from the regions as well as a scavenger hunt specifically designed for the children. The second portion will feature panel discussions, video, prayer groups and an overview of the upcoming mission for 2018. We look forward to seeing you there.
